Get Ready With Me // PAX East 2015

This year Tristan + I attended PAX East for the third time. PAX is essentially a giant gaming convention filled with vendors, game developers, streamers, companies involved with all aspects of the gaming world + so much more. It is an insane but very cool experience! I actually vlogged my weekend so stay tuned for that on Wednesday, if you’d like to see what PAX is like.

I know, I know. This isn’t a celebrity look and I JUST promised to make Sundays celebrity inspired. Well, as you’ll also see on the vlog, I did film something. I just forgot to turn my microphone on. So it will have to wait until next weekend + I hope this makes up for it. The star of the show is definitely the Colour Pop Lippie Stick in Feminist, which was perfect for today because it is International Women’s Day! I could write the world’s longest blog post about equality and the importance of women having the power to make their own decisions. I really could. But for now, makeup. Enjoy!

Monkey See, Monkey Do // Hair Edition

Just like all of you, I am a total blog, DIY junkie. I love pulling inspiration from other humans on the internet whose creativity and ingenuity far surpasses mine. The Beauty Department, a website co-founded by Lauren Conrad + her hair + makeup peeps, has been one of my favorites since it’s inception a couple years ago. I love Lauren Conrad and admire how she has been able to build an empire with grace + class post MTV Reality show fame. Most of the hair tutorials until recently have been mainly geared toward ladies with long, thick hair so I have simply admired them from afar. Thank GOODNESS LC chopped her locks and started somewhat of a revolution (#cleartheshoulders anyone?). They featured this hair tutorial recently so I decided to give it a shot! My hair is what I believe is called a graduated bob, meaning it’s shorter in the back and longer in the front. The length is just about shoulder length so I was able to easily follow the steps. My version initially came out a bit more wavy and less undone, but over time it loosened + settled nicely. In my experience, the style can last a few days (thanks Dry Shampoo!).

I didn’t have all the products she used or the exact ones, but I was still able to achieve the style. Use whatever you have in your cabinet! I used a Dove mousse, Not Your Mother’s Hairspray and Not Your Mother’s serum. I bet pomade would really blow this style out of the water, so it’s on my wish list for a future shopping adventure. Happy hair styling!
