BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette Review & Demo

I got my paws on the latest Becca collab with Jaclyn Hill….GUYS! It’s beautiful. But I definitely need a tan to be able to rock these shades more confidently. I think a fun drinking game for this video (water, coffee, whatever, you do you) would be to take a sip every time I say the word tan. Honestly, it gets a little out of hand. Regardless, the shades are gorgeous and are INSANELY pigmented. Almost too pigmented. Use the lightest hand ever when applying each of the shades to the face because this shiz means business.

As I am typing this post it has been about 5 hours since application and my cheeks are still going strong. Somehow there has been little to no fading and I am glowing like a firefly. My boyfriend told me I looked like Nikki Tutorials today with the intense cheek and I was so happy I almost passed out. What a dude.

Get Ready With Me! // Shaaanxo by BH Cosmetics Palette

Even though my love for getting ready for a night out is deep and true and pure and I like to take my time, that certainly doesn’t always happen. This video is case in point and rears it’s head towards the end as I am delicately clutching a lash letting the glue get tacky while highlighting my face… listen, it’s real life and I know we have all been there. I really, really like the way the makeup turned out even though getting there wasn’t the most relaxing experience of my life.

Let’s talk about the palette itself for a second, shall we? Shaaanxo has become a serious addiction for me over the last, I don’t know, maybe year. I watch her daily vlogs, regular beauty videos and follow her on Snapchat. I find her to be super talented, refreshingly honest, hardworking and also happens to be a dime. So when she released this palette, it was a no-brainer…I needed it and I needed it yesterday.

The Good: As I mention in the video, many of the shadows remind me of Makeup Geek shades, which isn’t a bad thing. The colors are pretty and work well together. They especially come to life with some Fix+ spray.

The Bad: I do have a couple complaints, however. I had a lot of fall out the first few times I used the shadows and still experience mild fall out but that’s not a deal breaker. I also wish there was a more neutral transition shade, as the mustard shade is a bit bright on my light skin for day to day wear. If there was a brown I would probably never use another palette again. The lipsticks are beautiful but do not appear in the lips as they do on the pan.

I FOUND THEM // Katy Kat Mattes

It’s fair to say that I am a Katy Perry enthusiast – I consume everything she creates immediately, often & with great enthusiasm. I got to see her on her Prismatic World Tour and it was the perfect blend of actually amazing singing, humor, sass & entertainment. I knew she had been a part of the CoverGirl family for a little while now but she hadn’t put her name on anything until now – a collection of lipsticks called Katy Kat mattes. Naturally, I started hunting for them the second I knew they were in existence and after a few weeks of searching my dreams came true. I came home right after finding them and filmed this. Unfortunately I don’t have an endless supply of makeup money so I was only able to pick up three shades this trip but I plan on expanding the collection.

I was able to get my hands on Coral Cat, Kitty Purry and Perry Panther. After wearing the two more wearbale shades I do have some observations. Kitty Purry, the muted purple shade, is the most matte of the three I grabbed. It dries down nicely and doesn’t feel terribly drying. Coral Cat is forever creamy on the lips, though it does appear matte after some wear time. Perry Panther hasn’t occupied my lips much given that I work a full time job where a black lip doesn’t really fit in with the aesthetic., but I did find that it was a VERY easy dark shade to work with – it is opaque without being patchy and glided easily over my lips. So far so good!

GRWM // Red Sox Game

Hey guys! I was genuinely kind of in a rush had to do my makeup, no time to play around. I had to go with a standby look so I obviously stuck with neutrals and a cat eye, topped off with a festive Sox red lip! Even though we lost, I still had a pretty silly time drinking Sam’s Summer, wolfing down a Fenway Frank and dancing to alllll the up-at-bat songs. I have listed the products below! xoxo

HOW TO: Long Lasting Lip Color

Lisa Eldridge is the makeup goddess of all makeup goddesses, in my opinion. She is brilliant, having worked on countless clients (Kate Winslet is her bestie), appeared in magazines and on runways + currently serves as the Makeup Creative Director at Lancome. I love her philosophy of less is more and how fresh and modern all of her looks are. I think you can tell by now how much I admire this woman. Every film she puts out, I watch! I especially liked one that I am sharing with you today about how to achieve a long-wearing lip. The technique is great and I thought I would quickly show you how you can get it with any lip color you want. Even after the bulk of your lip color has worn off, your lips should still be beautifully stained.

Blacklight Duochrome Eyes & Glowy Skin

This duochrome is UNREAL! I was inspired by a tutorial by the lovely Sharon Farrell using this eyeshadow over some black liner which really made the liner pop. I did a fairly amateur lash application so sorry about that BUT let’s just appreciate that shadow and the MUG shadow I used to highlight – Shimma Shimma creates the perfect pinky glow!

Monochromatic Peachy Pink Spring Makeup

Loved creating this soft peachy look perfect for warmer weather using a couple shiny pretty products I was dying to use…Stila’s Magnificent Metal Eyes in Kitten and Makeup Geek’s In the Spotlight. I shamelessly watch Shaaanxo’s Vlogs every single day and she uses this Stila product often in the inner corner and it always looks incredible on her! I realized that I used waaaaaay too much on this day but whatever. I also rocked what I like to call the Accidentally Aggressive Cat Eye. Whatcha gon’ do.
