Reaching the end of the year always calls for reflection which usually spawns lists of what we have most loved over the previous 12 months. Some people chat about movies, music or adventures but over here on Amber Rae Beauty, I am all about the cosmetics! I decided to present my makeup favorites to you in a fairly non conventional way (for the YouTube community, at least) and do a quick tutorial using all of the products I most used + loved. What did you love most this past year?
New Years Eve is the time for glitter, sparkles, bubbles (in beverages, of course). This look was created as part of a collaboration with a subscriber who reached out to me named Sondra. We decided that we would both use the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to create looks fit for a NYE party. In addition to makeup, I also tackled nails + hair. Sondra will be bringing you an outfit as well as makeup so make sure to head over to her channel. Doing this collaboration was so much fun! I hope this is the beginning of something new for my channel. Huge thanks also to my good friend Barrington Beats who has allowed me to use a couple of his mixes as the soundtrack to my video. If you want to hear ore of his stuff, you can find him here.
I quickly want to thank each and every one of you who has supported me throughout 2014. If you read the blog, watch the videos, or tell someone else about my little channel, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I started my YouTube channel and this blog because I truly love all things beauty + absolutely adore the beauty community already established on the web + wanted to be a part of it. Words cannot properly capture the excitement I experience when one of you tells me you tried a technique I used, watched a video I posted or learned something new. That’s the point of all this! I only hope to grow and improve in 2015 and bring you better content. Being able to share my passion has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
I planned on doing a voice over for this, however, our family suffered the loss of most adored feline friend + I just can’t bring myself to record something. I have instead used music from a Christmas EP I recorded last year with my boyfriend as the soundtrack + have listed all the products below + in the description box. Please give all your loved ones, both human + furry, lots of hugs, kisses and cuddles and tell them every single day how much you treasure them.
This look is your classic holiday makeup, complete with a long lasting red lip + lots of shine.
Ok ok, I know. I have been doing a ton of smokey eye tutorials recently. But honestly, doesn’t this time of year just call for this kind of eye look?! While it’s chilly + dark I like to pile on all the eyeshadow + liner. This look is all about matte brown-red + burgundy shades + a long lasting plum lip. Something a little different for the holiday party circuit but really beautiful and really easy. The lipstick I used, CoverGirl’s Euphoria, is insanely long wearing + leaves a lovely stain on the lips when it does wear off. I’m a huge fan, and not just because my girl Katy Perry wore it in one of her CG ads. I tried to make the skin glowy, using MAC’s Face and Body which has a nice natural sheen to it. I packed the highlighter on, using both a cream and powder + went over my cream blush with a highlighter blush.
I’m on a real green kick these days. I think it might be the impending Christmas Holiday or simply that I am just really drawn to it at the moment. Green is usually not my go to color but I have been absolutely loving the way it looks on my brown eyes! This look is perfect for a Holiday party or evening out + is very, very simple. If you’re not into green you can use any color you’d like! The technique can be applied to any color – you just need a dark base, a transition shade + your lid color. The key is to apply + blend, apply + blend – you can never blend too much! It is crucial for creating a smokey look that doesn’t come off as a black eye.
I am fully indulging in all things Autumn…candles, apple recipes + of course, makeup. This look is one of my absolute favorites I’ve ever created. The technique is called Tulip eyeshadow placement, which is fancy for placing your dark shade on the outer + inner corner and putting a lighter pop on the center of the lid. This technique can be used with any color combination your heart desires! Honestly, this was my first attempt at doing this and was psyched with how it turned out.
Revlon ColorStay Whipped Foundation – 200 Sand Beige
Well that’s a mouthful! This look focuses on a bright blue eyeliner on the lower lashline + features soft definition and cat eye on the upper lid. It’s an unusual but interesting way to wear color on your eyes + a method I like to employ often. You don’t have to have the same products as I do – I am showing you a technique that can be achieved with any colors + products you have! Have fun, be bold. Enjoy!

Autumn has finally arrived! I don’t really care how basic my enthusiasm about Fall makes me, I love everything about it – annual apple orchard trips, apple cider, seasonal beers, and most importantly, Fall lip colors. You may remember a month or so back I talked about a Bite Beauty lip color purchase that was begging for cooler weather + crunchy leaves. Well, folks, that time has arrived. I present to you, a Wine Lip Pin Up esque tutorial! A cat eye and well contoured skin comprise the pin up aspect of this look. I used a nude pencil in my waterline to really open up my eyes after applying a cat eye so intense I felt like it needed to be tamed a little bit (but only a little bit!). If you want to see how I achieved this look, please check out my latest video!
