Another weekend, another Makeup Geek Sparkler to try out. I apologize for the redundancy but I only bought two of these babies and can’t pull them off in the workplace, so they have taken over my last couple uploads. But for good reason – they’re gorgeous! Enjoy this one, a purple smoky situation using Kat Von D’s new Shade + Light blush, and the Makeup Forever HD Foundation in liquid form rather than a stick – I made the switch and my dry skin is SO much happier!

A couple of week ago I filmed this GRWM for a lunch date! I intended to go very light but you’ll see, it did not happen. The photo used for this post was from another date, as I genuinely didn’t have enough time to snap any pics for this post! But it is from a lunch date I had with my sister, hence the smile on the face.

When I saw this video by Jaclyn Hill, I low key lost my mind. Not only were the new matte shades by Makeup Geek gorgeous, but I owned the very shimmery green and purple shadows she was using on her lid (insert happy dance!). It took me juuuuust about 12 hours to re-create the look and I am SO GLAD I did! I obviously don’t have the MUG mattes yet (they don’t come out until later this week), so I used what I had already, mixing and applying, praying the results would yield something similar to my girl JH. The green is a duochrome called Secret Garden and to be honest, I had no clue how I was going to make this shadow work but Jaclyn showed me the way with sandy browns, purples and even some poppy pink.
My version is below…I tweeted it (@AmberRae) and was stunned when Marlena herself RT’d it! I have been freaking out on the inside pretty much all day about it. I didn’t edit these at all, sometimes I will play with light to show true pigmentation but I didn’t need to for these. I hope you guys enjoy, and if you’d like a tutorial on this look let me know and I would be more than happy to film it for you! xoxo

When I first started watching YouTube, it didn’t take long to discover the adorable Zoella, aka Zoe Sugg. Everyone already knows who I am talking about, of course (she just hit 9 million subs, are you kidding me?!). Luckily, we share a love for Rimmel lipstick in 107 and can’t resist pairing it with a gold eye. Zoe recently shared a tutorial featuring a similar look and it inspired me to do one of my own. This lipstick gives me all the fall feels, and is perfect for this time of year.

This base makeup has been my go to as of late and has been working like a dream! From the primer to the setting spray, it lasts a super long time and looks great even when I am ready to wash it off. Could be the Champagne Pop, who knows. I decided to do a chatty Get Ready With Me and boy oh boy, can I talk. I knew I had the gift of gab already but damn, I had to edit this video down and I still came out with about 20 minutes of footage! Grab a drink and settle in!

Selena Gomez is a complete + total babe. She also makes some of the catchiest songs of all time. I have been known to put her songs on repeat, including “Who Says” (best message ever), “Come and Get It” (sassy as hell), and most recently, “The Heart Wants What It Wants” (how beautiful is the melody when she sings, ‘the bed’s gettin’ cold & you’re not here’?!). I love her, if you can’t tell. So it was kind of a no brainer doing a makeup look inspired by her. Her eyes are similar to mine in the sense that they’re smaller + fairly hooded so I knew that I would be able to pull this look off. I found this picture + used it as my main source of inspiration.

Guys, I am on a serious Meghan Trainor kick. When her album first came out a few months ago it was on heavy rotation but then, as it always happens, I put her on the back burner. The recent release of her video for the song “My Future Husband” has put her album back into my life! Aside from the song being super cute + catchy, the makeup in this video is my idea of perfection – cat eyes, bright lips + contours. To me, it doesn’t get much better than that! The look I chose from the video is actually the thumbnail + the photo that comes up most often when you Google image search Meghan Trainor My Future Husband. To watch the video, click here.
In this video I show you a foolproof way to accomplish a cat eye! All you need is some tape + whatever eyeliner poison you prefer – gel, liquid, pencil or even eyeshadow for a soft wing. You really can’t screw it up using this method, it makes it so easy to create a wing, big or small.

The latest Marina and the Diamonds album “Froot” dropped a couple weeks ago + it has been on a loop ever since. On top of being an amazing musician + singer, Marina is a pretty bad ass chick. She has been wearing some very fun, bright + colorful makeup looks in support of her album and I can’t get enough. I saw this yellow liner look on her Instagram and knew I had to do it. I actually really love how this came out + feel like it is totally wearable.

Reaching the end of the year always calls for reflection which usually spawns lists of what we have most loved over the previous 12 months. Some people chat about movies, music or adventures but over here on Amber Rae Beauty, I am all about the cosmetics! I decided to present my makeup favorites to you in a fairly non conventional way (for the YouTube community, at least) and do a quick tutorial using all of the products I most used + loved. What did you love most this past year?
