Get Ready With Me // Neutral with a Pop of Teal

I sat down over the weekend with a very vague idea in mind, knowing only that I wanted to use a couple new gorgeous Makeup Geek eye shadows that I hadn’t used yet. I came up with this very wearable, mostly neutral look that features a pop of shimmery, teal/turquoise goodness on the lower lash line. You could leave the bottom lash line out of the equation for an easy every day look but I really loved the way the shades Mermaid + Shark Bait worked together to create a really unusual, beautiful pop of color.

Sydney of Echosmith Tutorial Featuring Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara

I can’t stop (won’t stop) listening to Echosmith. I am a sucker for a lady singer fronting a rock band, especially when it’s comprised of family members. This adorable sibling group from California totally has my heart. Aside from being hella talented in the pipes department, the lead singer Sydney is an adorable human. She also rocks some great makeup! I found a feature she did with Nylon magazine where she talked about what products she uses when doing her signature brown smokey eye, pink cheeks + lips. I didn’t have any of the stuff she uses but did some internet sleuthing to find dupes + came up with this! Watch their video to get pumped first, then watch my video 🙂

Gaga Goes Green at the Grammy’s

How’s that title for some alliteration? Lady Gaga looked absolutely stunning at the Grammy’s this year. She went for a very classic look in a gorgeous sparkly dress that was quite deep cut, a platinum gray wig + a beautiful green  and silver cat eye. Recreating this look was actually quite difficult! It took a lot of blending + adding color, and I had to spray my brushes with MAC Fix+ a few times to try to really intensify the colors. Also, how about that performance?! Perfection. She put a red lip on to sing with Tony + she totally nailed the sassy jazz singer look.

“Red Lip Classic Thing That You Like…”

Taylor Swift’s makeup is always on point. That girl has been flawlessly rocking a red lip pretty much on the daily for a couple years now, so she’s living the dream. Her latest video is no exception…glossy red lip, cat eye + simple skin. I recreated the look using all drugstore products, all things that you can easily pick up at Target, CVS, Rite Aid, wherever! Taylor’s video will be down below as well so you can check out what may be her most artsy creation yet.

Glittery Autumn Eyes

I am fully indulging in all things Autumn…candles, apple recipes + of course, makeup. This look is one of my absolute favorites I’ve ever created. The technique is called Tulip eyeshadow placement, which is fancy for placing your dark shade on the outer + inner corner and putting a lighter pop on the center of the lid. This technique can be used with any color combination your heart desires! Honestly, this was my first attempt at doing this and was psyched with how it turned out.

Upside Down Blue Smokey Eye

Well that’s a mouthful! This look focuses on a bright blue eyeliner on the lower lashline + features soft definition and cat eye on the upper lid. It’s an unusual but interesting way to wear color on your eyes + a method I like to employ often. You don’t have to have the same products as I do – I am showing you a technique that can be achieved with any colors + products you have! Have fun, be bold. Enjoy!

Take All My Money – State Tax Return Edition

Today my bank account was graced with the presence of my state tax return *angels singing*. Needless to say an Ulta trip was necessary on my way home from work. Here is my bounty!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – “Black Drama”, Waterproof

I only just realized that I got the waterproof version of this mascara so woops! I usually don’t go waterproof for whatever reason so this will be interesting. I tried this mascara once before due to Tanya Burr’s undying love for it & wasn’t overly impressed, but she insists on the packaging with the lace & I’m in the market for a new mascara so I figured, ah what the heck!

Jane Concealer – Light

Let me start off by saying that this concealer does not look very light in the tube. Casey Holmes likes this concealer & her under eyes always look flawless so I picked this up in hopes for similar results. Will report back about the color!

NYX Blush – Dusty Rose

Been searching for a good rose color for my cheeks & I think this is the one! I am spoiled enough to usually reach for a high end blush but I wanted a drugstore option, and I have had great success with the NYX shade “Taupe” for contouring.

OPI Nail Polish – A Definite Moust-Have

Found this beautiful pink shade in the clearance section. Thinking it will help usher in some feelings of Spring! We are getting to that point in Winter when we feel like spring may never come so I need a pick me up, probably on my toes!

OPI Nail Polish – I Sao Paulo Over There *Brazil Collection*

This shade was featured in a photo on the OPI Instagram feed and I immediately knew I needed it. It appears to be a creamy, medium gray shade & I cannot wait to wear it! I’m a sucker for a good gray polish.

Katy Perry Color Pop Lashes

These little individual lashes were also a clearance section find – these lashes feature strands of color!I believe there are blue, purple and green ones. These will be fun to add a little something special to a look without trying too hard. I have tried other KP lashes & loved them all so I know I will love these.

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow – Burst Into Bloom

As a brown eyed gal I love purple on my eyes. I usually will stick to a liner to add color but my boyfriend has been encouraging me to do a more full on color look with my eyes. I have a couple of these shadows already & am obsessed with how creamy and shimmery they are – I use my finger to swipe the color over my lids & blend the crease & I’m done. I’m not kidding, it’s that easy. It’s a simple couple steps that look like you put lots of time into your makeup but little does everyone else know…!

Maybelline Color Tattoo – Painted Purple

Color Tattoos are awesome. Like the L’Oreal Infallible shadows I feel like they’re so easy & pack a punch without being too much work. This color is so gorgeous & I can’t wait to use it on it’s own or as a base under other shadows.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I am a Beauty Blender lover. However, I am not a lover of their price. How in the heck have I been duped into spending fistfuls of cash for little sponges?! At $6 I couldn’t resist trying this little guy, which has been getting amazing reviews by YouTube ladies.

Between some clearance finds & the usual $3.50 off coupon I did pretty well for a spur the moment, literally grab whatever caught my eye, shopping spree. There will most likely be a part 2 when my Federal return comes…stay tuned & happy shopping!

Mini Haul * Wal Mart

I must admit that I am more of a Target gal but today I went to my local Wal Mart with my sights set on a particular product – the Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer. As far as I know this brand is only sold at Wal Mart so I scooted on over there after work to snag it. While I was there, I obviously had to peruse the aisles for more makeup goodies. Here’s what I picked up!

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer in shade #312 Light $6.00

I recently read that this concealer is comparable to a Makeup Forever concealer which is about three and a half times as expensive as this little guy. I’m not sure if I will be using the pencil that comes with it but I might as well give it a shot.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara in Blackest Black $7.97

The wand on this mascara is botjh mildly terrifying but also intriguing. I am curious to see what this mascara does to my lashes – the claim is that it will lengthen, stretch and volumize the lashes to the outer corner. Volume is my number one requirement with mascaras, the rest is just a bonus.

L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum $19.97

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a serum. My skin is Normal – Dry and this harsh New England Winter is doing a number on my skin. Paying almost $20 for this product took a lot so I am hoping it improves the hydration in my skin and I cannot wait to try it out.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser $5.94

Hallelujah I finally found this product! I have been searching high and low for it since it was released and today was my lucky day. This primer has been compared to Benefit’s Porefessional and claims to blur the look of pores without clogging them. I have some pesky pores around my nose area so we will see if this product lives up to it’s claims.

Trim Scissors & Comb $4.97

Okay, I know that the packaging says these tools are for mustaches and beards but I promise the back says they’re also suitable for eyebrows! My brows have been a real challenge for me but I am starting to face my fears and not only lightly fill them in but also groom them (who teaches their kids this skill?! Certainly not my mother who had plucked her brows into oblivion as a teen). Thanks to YouTube I am able to delve into the mysterious world of brow maintenance.

Comment down below if you’d like to see reviews of any of the products I mentioned above. I will be putting them to work asap and will most likely share my opinions without provocation, but knowing what readers want to see doesn’t hurt! I also hope to have a YouTube channel up shortly with tutorials, hauls & favorites so stay tuned!
