October Favorites

I would have loved to have created a proper YouTube video to chat about my favorites from last month, however, life is happening + is not allowing me the time to sit down, film + edit. So, I have decided to type up a little blog post with photos + text this month. I hope you’ll forgive me! My schedule during the week makes it near impossible to film when I get home + the last couple weekends were filled with family. Anyways, please read on if you’d like to know what I was reaching for most during October!

Lavender Vanilla Aromatherapy Range from Bath + Body Works

I think it’s pretty clear that I have a deep affection for this range of Aromatherapy products from Bath + Body works. When I shower at night I like to use the shower oil, when I take bubble baths I like to use the Luxury Bubble bath, before bed I slather the cream all over my limbs + I spritz my pillow with the pillow mist. The scent is incredible, soothing and relaxing and it is an absolute staple in my nightly routine!

Chloe Perfume

I have been really digging this fragrance, a teensy tiny bottle of Chloe that I got with my points at Sephora. The scent is light + lovely. I am horrible at describing scents so I will let Sephora do the honors: “Warm, seductive, and totally addictive, a classic rose is translated into a breath of modern femininity”. I’d say that’s accurate! The full size bottle will be on my Christmas Wish list, for sure.

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics – Smooth Criminal Powder

This powder was gifted to me from my sister who received it in her Ipsy bag. It’s a silky smooth translucent loose setting powder. It is a powder for people who don’t like looking like they have powder on, so I love it. I use my giant E.L.F. brush to press this onto my face after applying all my creams.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation – 200 Sand Beige

This foundation is not for the faint of heart – it has a thick consistency + is definitely full coverage. I can flip the open container over completely and not worry in the slightest that it will run. That being said, it makes my skin look amazing! It makes my skin appear smooth, even + does not look like I am wearing foundation. Perfect for dry skin, not sure if oily skinned gals would like this. The staying power is impressive as this foundation lasts all day and looks good after hours of wear. The best part is that it is drugstore + doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!

I could go on for days about my love for this book. Refreshingly honest, bold, hilarious, inspiring. I laughed out loud at least a dozen times. Lena Dunham is intelligent, articulate + witty. An absolute must read for young women.

Hope you all enjoyed, leave a comment + let me know what you’ve been loving lately!

Upside Down Blue Smokey Eye

Well that’s a mouthful! This look focuses on a bright blue eyeliner on the lower lashline + features soft definition and cat eye on the upper lid. It’s an unusual but interesting way to wear color on your eyes + a method I like to employ often. You don’t have to have the same products as I do – I am showing you a technique that can be achieved with any colors + products you have! Have fun, be bold. Enjoy!

The Scariest C Word of Them All – Contour!

Lately I have been getting quite a few requests for contouring so VOILA! Here is how I contour! I do my best to explain why it’s important & what it does, and show you guys how to actually do it.

contour 1 contour 2

Contouring adds dimension back into your face after applying foundation. The purpose of foundation is to create a blank canvas and even out your skin tone which leaves skin looking flat and lifeless. That’s where your cheek products come in! Contouring allows you to add the natural shadows back onto your face using a cream or powder. I think that part is personal preference – do whatever you prefer! As far as choosing a shade goes, pick something that mimics what the shadows of your face look like naturally. Many people use bronzer, which is alright so long as they aren’t too red toned; You want something on the cooler side.

I am no expert in this but these are the tips and information I have learned through many hours of watching others & reading up on it. Hopefully you leave this blog feeling inspired to do this on your own face!

Please leave me a comment or question down below if you need anything to be clarified!

Mini Haul * Wal Mart

I must admit that I am more of a Target gal but today I went to my local Wal Mart with my sights set on a particular product – the Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer. As far as I know this brand is only sold at Wal Mart so I scooted on over there after work to snag it. While I was there, I obviously had to peruse the aisles for more makeup goodies. Here’s what I picked up!

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer in shade #312 Light $6.00

I recently read that this concealer is comparable to a Makeup Forever concealer which is about three and a half times as expensive as this little guy. I’m not sure if I will be using the pencil that comes with it but I might as well give it a shot.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara in Blackest Black $7.97

The wand on this mascara is botjh mildly terrifying but also intriguing. I am curious to see what this mascara does to my lashes – the claim is that it will lengthen, stretch and volumize the lashes to the outer corner. Volume is my number one requirement with mascaras, the rest is just a bonus.

L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum $19.97

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a serum. My skin is Normal – Dry and this harsh New England Winter is doing a number on my skin. Paying almost $20 for this product took a lot so I am hoping it improves the hydration in my skin and I cannot wait to try it out.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser $5.94

Hallelujah I finally found this product! I have been searching high and low for it since it was released and today was my lucky day. This primer has been compared to Benefit’s Porefessional and claims to blur the look of pores without clogging them. I have some pesky pores around my nose area so we will see if this product lives up to it’s claims.

Trim Scissors & Comb $4.97

Okay, I know that the packaging says these tools are for mustaches and beards but I promise the back says they’re also suitable for eyebrows! My brows have been a real challenge for me but I am starting to face my fears and not only lightly fill them in but also groom them (who teaches their kids this skill?! Certainly not my mother who had plucked her brows into oblivion as a teen). Thanks to YouTube I am able to delve into the mysterious world of brow maintenance.

Comment down below if you’d like to see reviews of any of the products I mentioned above. I will be putting them to work asap and will most likely share my opinions without provocation, but knowing what readers want to see doesn’t hurt! I also hope to have a YouTube channel up shortly with tutorials, hauls & favorites so stay tuned!
